Monty Duggal's poster award 

Description: 

Candidates are invited to present a poster in a subject of interest in Paediatric Dentistry. This competition is open to all ages and professional degrees. Candidates will be asked to submit an abstract for consideration in this category by the Conference Scientific Committee.  Upon acceptance, candidates will need to present their poster to a judging committee during the congress. 

Prize: $100 and free admission to the next ArAPD congress 

Procedure: 

Candidates wishing to participate in the competition must submit their abstracts during the submission period of the ArAPD Congress. Candidates must indicate that they would like to be considered for this award. The Scientific Committee will review and evaluate all abstracts submitted for this competition. Only 6 abstracts will be selected for entry into the competition at the Congress.  The presenting authors of these selected abstracts will then be informed by the Scientific Committee, as being candidates for the award, and must give a 3 minute presentation of their poster at certain allocated time. 

Abstracts that are not selected for entry into the competition may still be accepted for presentation at the Congress – the presenting authors will be informed of acceptance or rejection by the Scientific Committee.

 

Poster Format:

 

  • Maximum poster size is A0 (0.84 x 1.19m) (portrait orientation)

  • Keep text to a minimum

  • Ensure any text is in large font

  • Use graphs, charts, and/or tables

  • Ensure contents have a logical flow

  • Make it colourful

 

Removal and collection of posters at the end of the display period remains the responsibility of the presenter. Posters not removed by the indicated take down time will be removed and disposed of.

                             

Young researcher's award

Description: 

Candidates are invited to present their research project in a subject of interest in Paediatric Dentistry. This competition is open to all ages and professional degrees. Candidates will be asked to submit an abstract for consideration in this category by the Conference Scientific Committee.  Upon acceptance, candidates will need to present their work at the last session of the congress (28th of November 2019).

Prize: $100 and free admission to the next ArAPD congress 

Procedure: 

Candidates wishing to participate in the competition must submit their abstracts during the submission period of the ArAPD Congress. Candidates must indicate that they would like to be considered for this award. The Scientific Committee will review and evaluate all abstracts submitted for this competition. Only 8 abstracts will be selected for entry into the Competition at the Congress. The presenting authors of these selected abstracts will then be informed by the Scientific Committee, as being candidates for the award, and must present their research at certain allocated time during the main congress.

 

Oral presentation Format:

Candidates chosen for oral presentation will be asked to deliver a 10 minutes presentation (maximum 15 slides) followed by 5 minutes of questions by the judging panel/audience. 

 

ArAPD 2019 Abstract Submission Guidelines

Submission Process:

The abstract submission process for ArAPD 2019 will be through sending an email with the required information to info@ArAPD.org.

Presenting Authors are requested to submit an abstract for review according to the guidelines set out below. Should you require any assistance or have a query about submission procedure, contact info@ArAPD.org

 

IMPORTANT:

It is ESSENTIAL that you read the instructions below before you submit.

  • The Presenting Author must submit the abstract where he/she is the corresponding author.

  • Candidates must register to attend conference within 7 days of their abstract being accepted and eligible for early bird fees.

  • Only one abstract is allowed per category, if more than one abstract is submitted to a prize category all abstracts will automatically be disqualified from the prize competition.

​Abstract preparation:

Abstracts should be prepared according to the protocol given below. There are three main formats for abstracts depending on whether the content relates to: a research study, a clinical case or a clinical governance/audit project. Provide the name of any funding body, if applicable, at the bottom of the abstract. Failure to adhere to the detailed format for abstract preparation will result in the rejection of the abstract.

Use the following headings in your abstract as appropriate:

  • Background

  • Aim

  • Methods

  • Results

  • Conclusions

 

Instructions for a Clinical Case Abstract

Use the following subtitles in your abstract as appropriate:

  • Background

  • Presenting problem

  • Clinical management

  • Discussion

  • Conclusion

 

Instructions for clinical governance projects

Use the following subtitles in your abstract as appropriate:

  • Methods (including standards for audit projects)

  • Results

  • Discussion/Recommendations/action plan (as appropriate)

  • Conclusions

 

Abstract format:

Please include the following in your abstract:

  • ​Abstract title should be a maximum of 12 words.

  • Name, affiliation, and job title of Presenting Author (this person will act as the main contact for this abstract; this person must be listed as the first author)

  • Name, affiliation, and job title of co-author(s)

  • Abstract word limit is 300, excluding Title, Authors and Affiliations

  • Graphs and tables may not be included in the abstract

  • Provide the name of any funding body, if applicable, at the bottom of the abstract.
